Hannah Raworth (formerly Hannah More) has been binding for nearly thirty years. I trained at London College of Printing and with two other binders went on to found Wyvern Bindery in Clerkenwell, London. For the past few years I have been working solo from a workshop in Lewes , East Sussex, but have recently joined forces with Stewart Graham-Hyde to form Highdown Bindery
Hi I'm Stewart, my background is in electronic engineering. I worked for Kodak as an engineer for 20 years. I left Kodak in 2012 and went on to do a foundation in art and design at Brighton. Around this time I also discovered an interest in bookbinding, my background in engineering proved very useful and thanks to Hannah More I jumped at the opportunity to train as a binder. In 2015 Hannah and I formed a partnership as Highdown Bindery.
While we are dedicated to the traditional art of bookbinding our future interests and aims are much more ambitious, we both have a passion to work in new creative areas related to bookbinding, as a result we have developed relationships with artists and photographers and have already been involved in various prestigious projects that have pushed our skills in new directions. Alongside this we have also worked on developing our own artistic interests and produce works to sell that are both exciting and unique. Quite simply there is nothing we won't consider from artistic presentation and collaboration to props and creative design projects.
